My wife is 19 wks pregnant and we heard pregnant women should not use some lotions.?
some of the oils that are put in lotions can be harmful to the baby. She recently bought some lotion w/eucalyptus and spearmint in it. any idea's if this is safe?
My wife is 19 wks pregnant and we heard pregnant women should not use some lotions.?
Eucalyptus and spearmint are fine.
SAFETY CAUTIONS: Peppermint
Non-toxic, non-irritant (except in concentration). Possible sensitization due to menthol. Avoid in pregnancy and lactation. Although peppermint is good for nausea, use a mint tea instead of the essential oil if you're pregnant
Wintergreen: The aroma of wintergreen is fresh, cleansing and minty. WARNING: Harmful or fatal if taken internally. One teaspoon can be fatal if ingested by a child.
Properties: Refreshing and invigorating.
Caution: Dilute well, skin irritant. Avoid if pregnant.
Eucalyptus: This is often used in topical preparations such as liniments, as well as cold-care products, including cough drops and inhalants.
Properties: Invigorating and purifying.
Reply:I've never heard of this!! That is crazy!! I don't think it's true. I've been pregnant two times and was never told this!!! If she did want some lotion that works good I would go with Palmers butter cocoa butter formula. It helps with the strech marks.
Reply:That is crazy!!
Reply:Any oils, creams, or herbal teas that contain herbs related to the mint family, such as spearmint, parsley, sage, and thyme, should be avoided. There are web sites out there that will tell you which herbs are safe and which are not.
Reply:You will hear many myths about pregnancy, the best thing to do is ask your doctor. He/She will best answer any questions about what to use and what not to use while being pregnant. Good Luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Plant in rows, or pot???
Is it best to plant these herbs in rows or pots....
I would like to get as many opinions as possible
Basil
Dill
Chives
Garlic
Marjoram
Peppermint
Chocolate Mint
Orange Mint
Spearmint
Oregano
Rosemary
Thyme
Terragon
Cilantro
Thank you sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!
Plant in rows, or pot???
This year I'm planting a herb garden too, and I'm planting them scattered around in a natural fashion, along with a bunch of flowers like cornflowers, calendula, creeping thymes and poppies to attract the insects. It's near my pond and I hope it's going to be more like a wildlife-type garden than a neat set of rows, with a winding path of stepping stones - I can't wait!
Just a thought.
If you want to plant in pots or rows remember that basil, cilantro and garlic are annuals (in most climates) but all the rest are perennials which will stay there year after year (not sure about dill). So it's best to find permanent places in your garden for the perrenials, or pots of course. And the others are right about the mint; it spreads like wildfire so either contain it in a pot or be prepared to cut it back a lot!
Another thing worth thinking about is if there's a certain herb you eat LOTS of (like if you want tons of basil for pasta sauces) then you'd get a lot more out of a row than a pot!
Good luck with your herb garden!
Reply:pots
Reply:The mints and oregano won't stay in rows. In fact, they can be down-right aggressive. So you'll definitely want to pot them.
The other plants you can do either with. In fact, you may want to put your rosemary in the ground as it is a sensitive plant- especially to dry indoor winter air.
Good luck!
Reply:All the mint should be planted in pots..its way aggressive and spreads via runners under the soil. Oregano would be better in a pot. Dill doesn't do well in pots, neither would garlic or cilantro. The rest you can plant in rows. When planting...remember that your chives will come back again next year...thicker.
Reply:Pots.Mints in separate large pots. Don't know what cilantro is.
Reply:Hello Cole,
You can plant all of these herbs and plants in rows or in a pot.
I like to plant a lot of my herbs in pots. I have planted all of those you mention in pots for many years with success.
Just be sure to buy the right size pot and a good potting mix that's especially made for herbs and veggies, available at your garden center. Fertilize every week with a diluted liquid fertlizer for herbs. Water every day. And enjoy!
Happy gardening!

Reply:Plant the mint in pots. It spreads like mad. The garlic and chives I would plant in rows. The rest I would plant in hills.
Reply:Well, it really all depends on how much time you can spend to take care of your herbs and how long you want to keep them.
I'm assuming when you say "rows" that you mean to put in soil in your yard outside. By planting herbs in rows (or even arranging them randomly) in the ground, you cut down on your watering chore since pots dry out faster than the soil in the ground and require more maintenance with watering.
On the positive side for pots, if you want to plant your herb once and keep forever, then some herbs you would want to put in a pot to bring inside the house during cold weather (dependent on your zone of course). For example, I know that Mint can survive a winter freeze and grow again, but Basil cannot.
The third factor to consider is animals. If you plant in an unprotected area in your yard, animals/pets might munch on your herbs. But if you keep in pots, you can put them on a deck or area when animals can't reach them.
Hope this helps.

What is your happiest childhood memory?
Mine is a day at my Grandparent's house when I was about 4. My parents and siblings were there, as well as a bunch of cousins, aunts and uncles. Gramma was making dinner in her huge kitchen, and I sat on her stepstool and watched her direct her daughters like she was running a commercial kitchen, only with lots of love in her voice. Then I went into Grampa's library, where he was sitting by the fireplace, Dad and a couple of Uncles were all reading, and I sat on Grampas footstool and was fascinated by the newspaper he was reading...it had no pictures or cartoons, just lots of small print. It was the Wall Street Journal, and he taught me about the stock market by giving me a piece of Wrigley's Spearmint gum, and told how we have stock in Wrigley, so when we buy it, it invests in the company, etc. Then, when dinner was ready, I sat in this huge booth Grampa had made so about 20 people could eat together, and they served "Nipfla", which is our family name for German spatzle noodles.
What is your happiest childhood memory?
When I was 2, my dad took me and my brother to drop something off to our grandma. While my dad was in the house, my bro and I were playing in the car, and I got behind the wheel, slipped it into gear, and starting driving. The thing was though, that the car was parked on a hill and started coasting down backwards. My bro jumped out and ran to get my dad. I remember seeing my dad leap over the porch railing and come sprinting down the street to catch up. He threw open the door and got in and hit the brakes just before the car went across some railroad tracks.
It was the best car ride of my life!

Furniture spray to keep away cats.?
My cat loves to sit on our new couches. Is there any known brand of "cat repellent" for furniture that will not stain or damage light fabric? Interestingly, he also happens to hate the smell of mint (such as the menthanol in Vicks Vapo Rub or spearmint gum). Thank you!
Furniture spray to keep away cats.?
I have tried everything out there to repell cats on furniture. Wal-Mart sells it, Target, etc. NOTHING worked for very long. I have found a cover over the furniture is really the only thing that works.
Reply:Take a look at your furniture sprays, I am sure they can work in conjunction with a citrus or menthol-smelling spray. Good luck.

Ohioans......Did you hear about the toothpaste recall?
A New York company is recalling two kinds of toothpaste that may have reached the store shelves in Ohio %26amp; in 10 other states. The products in question are :
(1) Denta Pro Cavity Fighting Floride Toothpaste, Fresh Spearmint Flavor
(2) Bright Max Toothpaste
The products were made in China %26amp; may contain a chemical found in antifreeze that's toxic to the liver %26amp; kidneys.
*My source did not mention what the other 10 states are*
Ohioans......Did you hear about the toothpaste recall?
Also,
Cooldent Fluoride,
Cooldent Spearmint
and Cooldent ICE.
Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste Herbal and "Colgate Fluoride Toothpaste Maximum Cavity Protection
There is one more, but can't find the name of it.
Here in San Diego, the local news stations are checking out stores that are still selling the toothpaste, such as 99cent stores.
The FDA increased its scrutiny of toothpaste made in China because of reports of contamination in several countries, including Panama.
The agency is particularly concerned about chronic exposure to DEG .

Anyone have some serious tips about BCT in Fort Jackson?
I'm leaving for Fort Jackson on the 24th of January for BCT. I already know the basics like keep your mouth shut and do what you're told rule. But does anyone have anything to really focus on. Like I heard that bringing cotton balls and Q-tips are good for cleaning your rifle. Another person told me to buy icy-hot at the PX when I get my advance pay card. He said that it may make the barracks smell like spearmint but your body will thank you in the morning or when you get up for fire-watch/guard or whatever. And cough drops for the sore throat that you, not may, but WILL be getting.
And what about Victory Forge? Any tips for that? I hear it's one of those "Don't give up on yourself and you wont fail" type of challenges. Yeah, I know I could search for that answer online but it's better if someone who's done it actually tells me. They don't sugar-coat, aka bullsh*t, what it's like.
By the way, will my sarcastic "Jack-***-ism" get me "special" treatment?
Wish me luck...or a miracle.

Good Luck in basic! Unfortunately I can't really give you any good info. My husband and I are stationed about about 30 minutes away. Just a warning.. it may be January but this is South Carolina. Last week I was wearing shorts and now its 30 degrees outside. It totally screws with my sinuses. Anyway, my husband says.. "Do NOT under any circumstances volunteer for anything."
Don't worry. You'll be fine.
Reply:Basic training is all a mind game. Take things in stride, and don't worry about the constant harassment you get from DI's and you'll do fine.Keep this in mind, regardless of what branch you're in, the DI's will always give you so much to do that it is physically impossible to accomplish what they ask you to do. What they are looking for is team work among you and your fellow recruits to pull together in a united effort to complete the job. They know what they assign you to do is impossible, but they want to see a unified team effort. If you can show the DI's that, you will be ok.
Reply:I did my basic at Jackson. I don't know if its easier or not than other places cause thats the only one I went to . You can bring a minimum of health items such as q-tips. You wont get your rifle until 4 weeks into BCT and will have cleaning equipment given to you. With your advance pay card you can buy everything yo need at "Reception battalion" which is the worst part of BCT due to how boring it is. you can also buy cough drops when you are told you can buy them. We weren't allowed to have them when we first got there. If you dont take things personally, go with the flow, and try not to fall asleep, the time will go fast (you will always be busy) and you will look at it as enjoyable. Unless you are a superman now, you will coe out in the best shape you've ever been. I lost 20 lbs and could knock out 80+ pushups for the test like it was nothing. Just take it seriously and you'll be fine. Afet the first 3 weeks (red phase) it gets better.
One more note. Bring things to correspond with (pens, paper, envelopes, stamps) that will give you something to do on fire watch, and help relive some stress.
Good Luck!!
Reply:drink water!!!! don't worry, it will be easier than you think. it is mainly mental.
Reply:you mean fort relaxin jackson. ha. make sure you have a sense of humor when you get out of basic because that place is a joke.

Extra Gum unordinary?
I recently bought some Extra Spearmint Gum. When I opened the gum, the stick was almost a neon color. After chewing it for a little bit, it was neon yellow. Is this normal?
Extra Gum unordinary?
Yes that is perfectly normal.
Reply:thats probably the color just buy another of the extra speamint gum and see what color it is if its not the same color then just ask the people that work there why it was yellow.
Reply:Yeah I think thats just the color of the gum.

What is O'Mai the essential oil?
i just bought an essential oil because i thought it smelt really good and wanted to add it to safflower oil and use as a moisturizer but what is it good for? like... eucalyptus is for relaxation and spearmint is for calming.... thxxx
What is O'Mai the essential oil?
Never heard of this, even when I googled it.
I'm going to assume that this is probably not an essential oil and that it is either a fragrance oil or a blend of several different essential oils that this manufacturer has labed as "O'Mai."
The difference between "essential oils" and "fragrance oils" is that the essential oils are 100% natural and fragrance are 100% synthetic. Essentials also have different properties to help increas overall wellbeing, (ie, lavender for calming, peppermint to perk you up, etc.) while fragrances have no health properties whatsoever. In fact, fragrances can have substances known as "pthalates" in them that can cause a host of problems from respitory problems to altering DNA in young children.
So always check to make sure what you are buying is indeed "essential oil" or "essential oil blend" as only essentials can be labeled as such.
Reply:thats a new one on me. I buy and resell essential oils but I never heard of this one. essential oils come from plants and i never heard of an O'mai. It is probably a blend with the name given by the packager, thats the best I can offer. Is this product one oil or several oils?

Why are there no gay strip clubs in the UK where men take their clothes off?
There are obviously plenty of places where girls 'dance' (Spearmint Rhino etc)....but none where blokes get their kit off - is there a reason for this? Surely it would be a good moneyspinner for the gay community?

What am I missing?
I'm making a garden. Here's what is on my list so far.
Catmint
Spearmint
Peppermint
Sweet Basil
Dark Opal Basil
Common Thyme
Lavender
Lemon Verbena
Lemon Balm
Winter Savory
Summer Savory
Calamondin Orange
Stinging Nettle
Any suggestions for more plants? I'm in Zone 6.
What am I missing?
You are missing the fact that you cant control it all. Spoiled comes to mind.Irrelevant of that statement you are still in the game of life.Life is a constant series of challenges. How you adapt to these challenges and under what circumstances you do is but a begginging that is vauge at best. The thrill is to navigate with concerne and compassion and finess with a touch of class and fortitude. Your actions do speak louder than terms.Your finess is what will make you rememberable.
Reply:Ditto on the mint, very invasive and spreads everywhere in the yard. Lemon Balm is also very invasive and will take over a garden. Keep them in containers.
Reply:dill,rosemary,parsly
Reply:How about some chives, rosemary, oregano, garlic, fennel, tarragon, purple cone flower (i don't know how to spell ecinatcia), sage. I know I sound as though I am making spaghetti sauce, but they are some of the most common herbs and some are easy to grow.
Reply:try actual foods like tomatos and cucumbers( that way you can use some of your herbs on them ;))
Reply:Just a word of warning about any type of mint in the garden. My personal experience is that it is very invasive. I planted two types of mint in the ground with my herb garden. They got huge. My boss told me that his mint took over the garden. He had to kill them with chemicals to make them go away. I pulled mine out by the roots and I STILL can't get rid of it. It just keeps coming back.
Maybe keep the mint in a container.

Cleaning uses for essential oils?
Does anyone have recipes.... I have Lavender, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Spearmint, Lime and orange. I need ideas for other uses other than just burning them.
Cleaning uses for essential oils?
For homemade carpet fresheners.
In a bowl mix 4 cups of baking soda or cornstarch with 25 drops rosewood essential oil, 35 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and 30 drops lavender essential oil. Break apart clumps and stir well. Pour into a shaker bottle. Sprinkle on carpets about 15 minutes prior to vacuuming.
You can change rosewood with orange.
For clean the floors
combine 15 drops of orange essential oil and 8 drops of lemon essential oils, 1 gallon hot water and 2 tablespoons liquid soap. This mixture will work on tough jobs and will leave the room smelling fresh.

Looking for "anticipated yields" for herbs?
We are looking for "anticipated yields" for the following herbs:
Basil
Dill
Chives
Garlic
Marjoram
Peppermint
Chocolate Mint
Orange Mint
Spearmint
Oregano
Rosemary
Thyme
Tarragon
Cilantro
I need to know how many pound I should expect of Fresh herb from these plants, for 1 season/year
Thank you tons!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking for "anticipated yields" for herbs?
Those will have wildly varying rate of production - and how you harvest can affect them.
ONE dill plant will get you about 1 ounce fresh, and less dried. You sow a LOT of seeds, and then you do that every 3 weeks - because it is a very short lived annual. Ditto with Cilantro.
Mint, any kind - there is almost no such thing as "one plant". It's a colony, and one that will nearly double in size every year.
Same with Oregano and marjoram. Chives aren't as vigorous at FIRST, but will eventually sprout up everywhere and you won't be rid of it.
Rosemary will not overwinter in cold places, so if you have to plant new each year, it will not yield nearly as much as one that has grown for years.
Garlic will give you about 1/4 to 1/3 pounh
d for each clove planted.
Reply:Fresh....figure about 1 lb. ea. Dried, about an ounce. Garlic is the exception.....one clove planted in the fall, will yield one bulb harvested the following summer

Can you help, please???
I used to love spearmint flavored licorice (not the spearmint "green leaves"). I can't find anyplace on the web that sells real spearmint licorice (although plenty of them sell spearmint green leaves). Do you know of any? Thanks.
Can you help, please???
These look similar to Twizzlers - only green - is this what you need? http://www.caneandreed.com/eshop/Catalog...

Is there a medical reason why?
I ( with both my pregnancies) have less body hair on my stomach and breast while pregnant and breast feeding
Sorry to talk about such a taboo topic as women and body hair but could this be linked to hormones and if so which ones..... Has anyone heard of drinking spearmint tea to curb body hair
Is there a medical reason why?
maybe due to lower testosterone and higher estrogen
Reply:having less... I've never heard of.. having more, I have.. usually hair doesnt fall out like it usuall does, which means your hair gets thicker... also it grows back quicker... but no, this is an odd question you brought up, maybe your doctor would know the best
Reply:so if you have 'less' hair whats the problem, most women would die to have less hair. I'm lucky i shaved my legs 3 months ago and my hair hasn't started growing back yet, yyyyayyyyyy!
If it really bothers you talk to the doctor but i would think you would be happy to have less hair on your body.

Drink tea promotes hair growth?
i keep reading online that green tea promotes hair growth, but does the orange and black pekoe tea does the same thing? and what is the difference of this spearmint tea that says it stop hair growth!
Drink tea promotes hair growth?
Drinking tea doesn't promote hair growth. SPEARMINT tea helps to control unwanted hair by lowering the levels of free testosterone in the body. Hair is composed mainly of proteins, so if you want your hair to grow faster, eat more protein. Also try a vitamin, like vitamin E, or omega 3 fatty acids. They both help hair grow.

If chewing gum is outlawed like it is in Singapore, will only outlaws chew gum?

Name 3 effective ingredients in mouthwash and list why these are important?
fluoride, peppermint, spearmint
Name 3 effective ingredients in mouthwash and list why these are important?
I would say go natural white oak bark, hydrogen peroxide these are antibacterial properties. warm salted water does pretty good
swishing your mouth with baking soda is pretty good, too.

Someone i know said that when you eat tic tacs it helps you stay awake during tests....is that true?
I dunno if it makes a difference...but the tic tacs are the spearmints flavor
Someone i know said that when you eat tic tacs it helps you stay awake during tests....is that true?
its not the sugar - its the peppermint or minty - people react to smells in different ways - and when it comes to that fresh minty smell ( which you would smell from your breath and taste at the same time ) it perks us up - just like lavender and chamomile are suppose to relax you - they dont have to be tic tacs just strong peppermint -
Reply:definitely not......tic tacs have nothing to do with keeping awake during tests
Reply:I would think the sugar in them might perk you up a bit, but, I can't really see them actually keeping you awake if you were really tired or even just bored.
Reply:I don't know about tic tacs.
But from my personal experience (i quite often do not sleep for whole night working on my projects, reading, etc.) i learned that if you think you can awake for whole night i don't think you gonna sleep.
It's all in your mind. i used black coffee, espresso, etc. but the best way worked out was whenever i feel sleepy i just come out of my room and take a small walk or just change my work for a while.
But honestly please do not start using anything just to stay awake because then you will be addicted and that's dangerous even if it's just a coffee.
Hope it helps

Reply:my lip gloss from Bath %26amp; Body works. It has peppermint oil, so if you lick your lips after you put it on, the oil freshens your breath.
Reply:Parsley is good especially when you've eaten garlic. Your breath breth smells nice.

Reply:If you have one handy, try an apple! It brushes your teeth and sweetens your breath. Also chewing fresh parsley will freshen breath- so save those pretty garnishes on your dinner plate for a trip to the bathroom and chew em up!
Peppermint candies, licorice will smell nice but sticks to your teeth, spearmint leaves(the candy), but any effort at sweeter breath is welcome and appreciated for that first smooch!

Every woman has different experiences when they are pregnant and breast feeding.
What is normal is not what happens for everyone. Generally, during pregnancy, many women find that body and/or facial hair actually increases due to increased levels of hormones called androgens. As well, often women think their hair is thicker during pregnancies because increased estrogen levels during pregnancy cause women to lose less hair.
However, after childbirth many women start to lose the excess hair after giving birth. Often facial hair that only occurred during the pregnancy will go away 3 - 6 months after childbirth as estrogen levels go back to normal and their hair is less thick as they start to shed more hair after giving birth.
I've pasted the link to an article with more information about spearmint tea but apparently there is some research that says drinking a couple cups of spearmint tea a day may lower certain hormone levels that are responsible for increased hair in some women and may help to lessen the hair..
Reply:The only cases I heard of like this were when women were not getting enough nutrients or vitamins in their diet. This can lead to hair loss, brittle nails, and wearing down the enamel of teeth.
Reply:Less hair? I thought women typically got more hair? It's a leftover from our hairy ape-like ancestors, who carried their babies in front of them for the first three months, with the babies grasping onto the mother's hair. That's also why babies have such strong grasping reflexes. After 3 months, the babies would be strong enough to cling on to their mother's back.

Herb Gardeners, a Rookie Needs Your Help!?
I am growing herbs in containers on my patio this summer for the first time ever. They are doing very well, which is great, but I'm not sure what to do as far as harvesting %26amp; storing them goes. Someone told me you shouldn't pick them except for immediate use in cooking until the end of the summer, but if I wait that long to harvest, they may take over my patio! I am using what I can for cooking, but that barely makes a dent in them. Please enlighten me as to when I can harvest, how to do it, ways to preserve, etc. Specifically, I have sweet basil, Italian oregano, garlic chives, rosemary, sage, marjoram, mint, and spearmint. Thanks!
Herb Gardeners, a Rookie Needs Your Help!?
My mom, like you, uses them as much as she can in her cooking, because they grow sooo quickly, But sometimes if they're getting out of hand, she'll usually cut off about a third of each plant, and freeze it so she can use it during Christmas Dinner. She cuts off either a large stem or many leaves, and just sticks them in a ziplock bag in the freezer. Even though they usually get freezerburt they still usually add lots of flavor in the cooking. Good Luck!
Reply:You can take the herbs, cut them up as you'd use them when you cook, and put them in ice cube trays. Add enough water to just cover the herb, and freeze. Pop out of the ice tray when frozen and put in marked freezer containers. Then when you want to use them in a sauce or something, you just drop it in and you have your still fresh herb taste. No freezer burn.
Reply:Spread the love dear! Make little herb bouquets for friends to use and enjoy, you could also make some into potpourri. I've frozen some herbs and dried some just to keep the plants manageable. But, like I said, sharing is the best!
Reply:Herbs best for drying: Basil, oregano, rosemary, sage, marjoram, mint and spearmint. The only herb you really can't used dried are the chives but you can freeze those. Drying is very easy. Just bundle them up and wrap a ribbon around the ends to make a pretty little bouquet. find a nice airy spot in your kitchen to hang them and let them dry naturally. If you still have too much then start sharing with friends and family. Oh, the mints can be frozen in ice cubes and then tossed into tea or lemonade.

In what stores can i find this product?
Peelu Company, Xylitol Gum Spearmint (100 Pc) and dental chewing gum
I dont like buying online so if anyone knows in what store those produsts are avaible that'll be great.

Health food stores, Natural food stores, Organic food stores. Your pharmacy might carry them, but I doubt it....i've only seen them in Health food stores.
Reply:I don't know if this is what you are looking for exactly.. but... Trident brand has Xylitol in it. Make sure that you look for it on the front, because not all of them have it.

What is the best burt's bees lip balm?
i have normal to dry lips and i want smooth, moisturized lips. i don't like lipgloss so tell me the best lip balm, preferably a spearmint flavor
What is the best burt's bees lip balm?
I have used Burt's Bees lip balm in the original flavor, the Beeswax Lip Balm. I have tried the pomegranate Replenishing Lip Balm, but did not care for it. Also, the newest that I have seen here is the Honeycomb one, but I didn't care for it, either. I put the Lifeguard Lip Balm on at the beach of if I am going to be in the sun for the SPF protection, but I always go back to my original one. Hope this helps. Good luck. Lori
Reply:this stuff is amazing, champaigne and watermelon are the best kinds, champaigne really makes your lips pop out. Not only does Burts replenish your lips and make them less chap, it also makes them lusher. Its made from all natural ingrediants, so you know you aren't putting any cow intestines on your lips, like most lip glosses have in them. Burts Bee's is totally amazing for just 5-7 dollars. Try it you'll love it
Reply:Personally, I like the plain one the best. I do NOT like the honey one, because it feels a little grainy (like honey sometimes gets).
Reply:The regular burt bees lip balm in the tube (not the pot. The pot forumla is a little differnt) is exactly what you are lookng for. It has peppermint oil in it, and its not to heavy and makes you lips super soft and smooth esp. if you use it at night.

Has it really ever helped for you?
I have severe nausea and am so tired of hovering over the toilet. I'm wondering, has sipping giner ale, ginger tea, spearmint/peppermint or rapberry leaf tea ever really helped anyone for nausea??
If not, what HAS helped??
I'm 16 weeks pregnant.
Has it really ever helped for you?
yes peppermint tea really helped me it would settle it right down i live on the stuff and still drink it now im 38 + weeks
Reply:I just used hard candy.
Reply:i suck on certs(mints) the peppermint kind. they help for heartburn and nausea.
Reply:dont use raspberry leaf tea so early on in pregnancy, it's not good for your uterus. check with your midwife what things work
Reply:Quietly Chamomile is the best tea for nausea. It is great tea for just relaxing. It is a very mild tea and has a very good flavor. Good luck to you.
Reply:okay sounds wierd but it totally works for me,
Drink a cup of hot cocoa, suck on a peppermint, or drink an orange soda. These all worked for me, and i had really bad morning sickness. give it a shot good luck if its really bad and you have good insurance ask for phenegren.
Reply:Ginger ale and saltine crackers helped. Also, laying on your side not your back seems to work wonders.
Reply:Anything ginger works well, I have had candied ginger in my purse so I had access to it all the times.
Also, you can get bracelets from the drugists, that when positioned properly on the wrist, put pressure on the correct accupuncture point, and help ease nausea.
Reply:None of the home remedies ever helped me. I asked my dr for a prescription and he gave me Zofran for during the day and Phenergan for at night and the combo worked WONDERS!
I was so sick from 6-26wks with my daughter I was miserable!
Reply:I had nausea my WHOLE pregnancy. I puked usually 4 times a day until the day I delivered. I tried IT ALL, and in the end just wasted a bunch of money...
A lot fo people say mint really helps them.
Reply:I had severe nausea when I was pregnant. There were two things that I found helped a little. First, I figured out what foods always made me puke. (for my first baby it was any refined sugar, any any sort of condiments. My second was added oil, fruit, and my prenatal vit.) I found that dandelion tea helped so very much. I bought dried root and leaf from a local herb store and then infused about a half teaspoon of each in a cup of freshly boiled water for about 20 minutes, twice a day. nothing else I tried worked ( i tried: vit b6, rasp. tea, ginger, cayenne tea, lemon juice, dramamine, soda water, activated charcoal, and I'm sure there's more, but I don't have my prenancy journal near me) Also here's an article to help with perspective. :) I only puked 131 times with my second.

Saltines as soon as I wake up

Is it bad to chew a lot of gum? I have these weird urges to chew on something..?
so I settle for orbit (spearmint) flavor. Is it bad for my teeth even if the gum isn't really sugary?

Chewing gum can be good at times. However chwing gum with sugar is very bad for the teeth. visit http://toothwhitening.fateback.com/ for more details
Reply:I don't know if I'm actually answering your question but chewing gum once in a while is not bad but too much chewing can be bad for your mouth %26amp; your jaw. I heard of this disorder regarding jaws problem.
just cut down chewing too much. :)

What strip club should I attend?
I will be in Vegas next week and I don't know if I should go to Scores or the Spearmint Rhino. Which one would you recommend. Please don't say, "All of them."
What strip club should I attend?
It depends on what you prefer. Spearmint Rhino is very good for lap dances. Scores is a much larger club that has fine dining versus bar food at Spearmint Rhino.
When relatives come to visit, I tell them about the clubs and some want to go to Scores and some Spearmint. There is a website that has a pretty good description of all the clubs plus a table that shows which ones are nude/topless, etc.
Reply:The Rhino is packed with women that are beautiful and plentyful as they have a massive staff of "dancers" however you need to be prepared for the financial side of things as they will ask you if you want a dance about every minute.
Reply:Actually I prefer Treasure's. It's not cheap but the girls are pretty, and Spearmint Rhino I never had a good time!
Reply:why dont you see a concert instead hun.

Can you chew gum during pregnancy?
Chewing peppermint or spearmint gum is the only thing that seems to help my nausea! lol. It is weird. Is it bad for the baby?
Also, is it possible to have morning sickness 2 weeks before you miss your period??? (asking for my sister she thinks she is pregnant) Thank evryone.
Can you chew gum during pregnancy?
Why would chewing gum effect pregnancy? Some things are just common sense. Its a great way to make your belly calmer with morning sickness.
You can have early pregnancy symptoms just like PMS.
Reply:chewing gum is fine and peppermint is one of the things they say will help nausea. other good ones to try are lemon and ginger. Peppermint was the only thing that helped my nausea.
Reply:No. Not bad for baby, but chewing gum for anyone can usually produce excess gas! Also, if you chew a lot, sorbitol is actually a laxative and used to flavor a lot of sugarless gums, diet drinks ect. Hope this eases your mind. Also, morning sickness starts when it starts. Typically it is due to influx of hormone changes, so theoretically it can start as soon as conception. Some women are more sensitive than others to changes in the body. Hope this helps.

Reply:If you have Diabetes or are Gestational Diabetic you should get the Sugar Free Gum...other wise I have never heard of anything against pregnant ladies chewing gum!!!
Reply:Chewing gum should not affect a pregnancy.
It's possible for her to have morning sickness as early as a few days after she's pregnant, but if she's pregnant it would have most likely been in between her periods, so it would be more likely not to start untill at least a week before her period.
Reply:You can chew gum
Reply:yup should be ok. but u may have gas lol. you can have morning sickness anytime but it usually starts a around 6 weeks
Reply:I have "heard" that the aspartame in sugar free gum, or sweetners are bad for the fetus. But personally I dont think there is enough in a stick of gum to do much, if any harm to the baby. But if I were you, I would just ask my Dr.
Reply:You can chew gum while you are pregnant. As for your second question yes you can have morning sickness before you find out, thats how I found out i was pregnant.
Reply:you can chew your little heart out and not hurt the baby,,,, but you may get more gas from swallowing air so just watch that
Reply:Chewing gum is totally fine for the baby although it can keep your stomach acids churning for chewing sends signals to the stomach that food is on the way. Lol
Its a bit early for your sister to be getting morning sickness especially before she even knows she's pregnant. She's better off going to the local pharmacy for an over the counter test. They are pretty accurate nowadays.
Good Luck
Reply:of course you can chew gum and you could have morning sickness before your missed period and if she dosent miss her period shes got the flu
Reply:Chewing gum does not affect you baby.
2 weeks before your missed period is usually the time that you are ovulating, so generally you are not even pregnant yet.

I.m still having problems with wasps and my pool, tried all things that were suggested but with no luck!?
I have tried the spearmint / beer / white vinegar/ extra clorine even jam in a jar of water still no luck.can anyone please help me on this one!!!!!!!!!
I.m still having problems with wasps and my pool, tried all things that were suggested but with no luck!?
You won't be able to completely eradicate them. Nests are likely everywhere you HAVEN'T looked on your property or possibly in/on neighboring houses. There are a multitude of hanging wasp traps out on the market (here in the states anyway). Get the ones with the actual wasp pheromones in them and hope that they can attract them away from the pool.
Reply:Have you tried following them to the nest and killing them all eg petrol and set it on fire. It sounds a bit much but may help.
Reply:take a large paper bag, blow it into a round shape tie the top and hang it near the pool or any area that is a problem. for some strange reason, they think it is another nest, and will not 'share' the territory, and leave. Good Luck
Reply:Here in Germany there are these things to catch wasps called a Wespenfalle. It's a glass bottle with 2 holes in it and you put a solution in it. It attracts the wasps, they go in and can't get out. The solution I use is 1 cup water, 1 TBS vinegar, 1 tsp sugar and a squirt of dishwashing liquid. Here's a picture online, sorry it's in German. http://cgi.ebay.de/WESPENFALLE-PINK-BY-I...
Good luck

Good luck

Colour scheme for my bedroom?
can any one give me any idea's for a coulour scheme for my bedroom? at the monent im thinking of duckegg blue %26amp; cream or spearmint green %26amp; white. i like colours that will enhance the natural likght in the room. thanks
Colour scheme for my bedroom?
both of your colour schemes sound nice, since you are looking to enhance the natural light in the room you should be aware of how natural light affects colour. So if your room is facing south, you get a lot of sunshine but this is a cool light where as a north facing room receives a warmer light and if you play into these factors the result will be very pleasing.
Usually you would assume that if you have cool light you need to add warm colour but it has been my experience that this is not the best case...confused yet?
my advice is that your colours sound great and would look best in South light, if your window is north you should use warmer tones or trust me your room will look dull for half of the day...but don't forget, there is such a thing as warm blues and warm greens and the flip side is there are also cool yellows etc, for south rooms.
Secondly, I am associating your colour schemes with "Martha Stewart" she has a paint colour collection which you would probably like, I believe that it is carried by Sherwin William.
Reply:cream walls and a darker coloured carpet..have the sockets changed for the chrome ones and a new fancy door handle...light shades a suede brown
Reply:Duckeggs? Natural Light? does it really all matter?, you'll be asleep in it most of the time.
Reply:I like the blue theme. That's what I did in my bedroom too. We are in the process of building a new house and at least one room is going to have robin's egg blue and brown.
Reply:i have just laid some white washed wooden flooring in my daughters room and some white white tiny blue fowers wall paper from laura ashley for the walls, all woodwork painted white, it looks beautiful, the room is in the loft and so we have a velux in their and its really brightened up the room and made it airy and looks alot bigger and relaxing
Reply:I like the blue and cream personally! Very light and airy and it will accent natural light very beautifully! Very fresh colors! and it leaves plenty of room for accent colors! Good luck and it looks like your off to a great start!
Reply:I love pink and i'm glad u do to. Keep ur old colours or try sunshine yellow with light green.
Reply:Both of those sound cute. I like turquoise and brown, personally. But blue and cream sounds pretty. You could do a blue bedspread/duvet with cream pillows, and paint the walls a pretty blue color, and then get wood frames and paint them cream and hang then on the wall. Anyways I'm getting carried away...Good luck!
Reply:I've never seen a blue duck egg. I've seen blue Robin eggs though. If it's the same color, I think its beautiful and I would complement it with an antique white or cream as you mentioned.
Reply:I have beige walls, which I hate. I just did my bedroom in black and white with a really fresh lime green accent color.
Look at my new comforter at http://www.kohls.com/products/product_pa...
It is much brighter than before, when my comforter was burgundy and accents were gold. The black really pops the white and the green and brightens everything. I also like black, white and lavender or black, white, and turquoise. I think bright white adds more light than cream colors.

I eat many Polo's and wonder if it's affecting my health?
I'm at school and every day i eat around 3-4 packets of spearmint Polos except saturday and sunday. is this affacting my health?
I eat many Polo's and wonder if it's affecting my health?
Yes, of course it will affect your health.
I'm wondering whether this is a real query or a homework question, but either way you might as well know what is going on here.
Firstly, polos are basically sugar with flavouring, so you are giving your body 'empty calories', i.e. sugar with nothing else beneficial added. Your body has to try and keep your blood sugar within certain limits, otherwise many body systems such as your kidneys are not going to work optimally. So when you subject it to an influx of sugar (from eating a packet of polos) you start a chain of events that lead to more insulin being produced. This regulates the blood sugar levels by storing sugar as glycogen in your liver and fat cells. So the insulin 'cleans up' the excessive amounts of sugar in your blood. *But* then your blood sugar levels drop and you may end up having a 'low' where your energy levels are really low and you crave more carbohydrates.
Secondly, if you snack on high calorie foods like this, unless you do a lot of exercise, you are likely to be consuming more calories than you need in a day. (You can't get all the protein, fat, vitamins and minerals you need each day from a few packs of mints, so I'm guessing you are eating other stuff as well as them.) If energy intake is greater than the energy you use, you are going to get fat.
It's far better to eat food with a low glycaemic index (GI), which release sugar slowly into your blood and don't give you sugar rushes or the lows that come later. I'm sure you can do a web search for information on low GI foods, it's quite a trendy diet at the moment. Plus low GI foods tend to be better for supplying your essential 'micronutrients' like vitamins and minerals.
Thirdly polos are known to be diuretic so if you are going to eat them, make sure you drink lots of water as well otherwise you are going to get dehydrated - and even mild dehydration has a huge effect on the way your body works. Your energy levels, mood and IQ get far worse if you don't drink enough water.
and I forgot to include the higher risk of tooth decay in my original answer, but you're probably aware of that already in any case
Is that enough??
Reply:Hi Matt, thanks for choosing my answer and I apologise for doubting whether it was a real question - there are so many people looking for homework help as a substitute for doing their own studying. Report It
Reply:Hi I like to eat this as well. About 2 in a day if I have it. But then it is true that it's not very good for ur health. U r eating too much. Avoid please.think it affects ur stomach. cant remember but it does affect ur health
Reply:Probably not, unless it's the sugar free version. The sugar free has an ingredient that can cause diarhea. If you were female, eating that many, suffering from diarhea and on the pill - I'd say stop eating them - or you might find yourself getting pregnant.
If you are eating the sugar free -read the warning on the side of the packet.

Do you use tea for home remedies?
Example:
If you have gas, would you drink tea for it? (anise, peppermint, spearmint and so on)
Do you use tea for home remedies?
Yes, quite often. And when my children were young, I'd give them chamomile and peppermint together, with honey and a dash of milk when they were feeling poorly. They still remind me about it. But, it worked!
Reply:yes, it has many natural herbs that would take away the bad gassing

take them all to netherlands the legal drinking age is 8 and everyone can have fun.

Reply:yeah spearmint or mint extract.. but maybe put sum sweetner in it coz extracts can be bitter.. hmm well creme de cacao is white chocolate.. so maybe melt sum chocky.. altho if they are cold then it would go hard so im not sure.. maybe just sprinkle some white chocky in it. it sounds gross.. but we add sherbert to shots and its pretty cool
Reply:for the cacao, you might try some of the coffee syrups. i know that there is a white chocolate coffee syrup.

It rained hard yesterday and my herb stalks are now limp and hanging. will they grow straight again?
Well, basically, I keep my herbs in trough boxes and they grow nice and full. But yesterday, it rained really hard and when i got home, my tall stalk herbs were limp and actually hanging from the side of the pot. Like my spearmints, apple mints and pineapple mints are all sagging. I just want to know if they'll grow straight and tall again and how soon that will take.
Also... what can I do to prevent this in the future?!
It rained hard yesterday and my herb stalks are now limp and hanging. will they grow straight again?
Yes, they should recover after two or three days of nice weather. The only way to prevent this in the future is to provide some shelter to the plants during bad weather (ie. move the boxes inside, place a patio umbrella over top, something like that).

Identifying the chemical compostion of essential oils?
structures of the major components, polarity of the essential oils:
lemon grass
sage
pappermint
lemon
spearmint
chamomile
and clove.
for TLC, are they simialr in polarity.
if the components contain only carbon and hydrogen molecules will the oil be non polar
Identifying the chemical compostion of essential oils?
It would be really weird for anyone to know the major components of those compounds off-hand.
However, I can tell you that, considering they are oils, they will all be relatively non-polar.

Spearmint. Ahhhhhhhhhhh.

Growing from Seed indoors?
I started some seeds in the little peat bundles / the seeds are coming up, but just one small upgrowth with one leaf on top/right now they are about 1.5 inch tall but just falling over like they are going to die / How do I get them to branch out or grow w/out looking like they are going to die?? I have basil, lavendar, marjoram and spearmint started.
Growing from Seed indoors?
Light. Either a south facing window or a flourescent light (doesn't have to be a grow light) about 1-2 inches above the plants. Careful about over watering.
****TO JESSICA : You need airflow (like a small fan) near you plants to dry up the mold. It will also strengthen the plant stems.
Reply:Cant answer ur question...
but do u know how to get rid of mold on the plants??..

Peppermint makes me sneeze. Does anyone else?
Whenever I chew peppermint or spearmint type gums or candy I sneeze for ever. Usually 15 or so times. Funny thing is it happens to my mom also. Just curious if it happens to a lot of others.
Peppermint makes me sneeze. Does anyone else?
I sneeze every time there is a scent of peppermint. Don't use peppermints so you won't sneeze! :D
Reply:It often makes me sneeze but just once. Even though I'm not allergic, anything with a strong scent sometimes brings on a sneeze. Even chocolate and coffee sometimes.

Which kind of gum keeps its flavor longer: Sugar-Free or Regular?
Between Fruit Gum: Juicy fruit (regular) and
Trident Watermelon Twist (sugar free)
Between Spearmint Gum: Wrigley's Spearmint.(regular)
Extra Spearmint.(sugar-free)
Which kind of gum keeps its flavor longer: Sugar-Free or Regular?
Definitely the sugar-free versions.
Reply:I dont think it matters about the sugar but rather the brand of gum.
Reply:Sure free in both cases.
I've sworn never to buy Juicy Fruit again, b/c the flavor lasts only as long as it takes to get the flavor out of the gum... maybe 50 chews? What a rip.
Reply:Ok. Honestly, sugar free lasts longer but Stride is the best and longest lasting.
Reply:orbitz has always lasted the longest for me
Reply:Sugar Free!! Try the new gum called "5" rain, it is very delicious and keeps it's flavor for a long long long time. In fact I can't remember it losing it's flavor before I throw it away. I usually end up throwing it out and it still has flavor to it. It has the most unique packaging as well. Very cool wrapping as well.
Reply:not sure about the different gums, but ones that have sugar keep their flavor longer because the sugar adds extra flavor to the gum which makes it last longer
Reply:the sugar free ones do. I'm not sure why, but they do.
Reply:I really think the Extra Spearmint does. Not sure why.

Which of the folowing items is a physical property?
a)the corrosive action of acid rain on granite
b)the odor of spearmint gum
c)the combustion of gasoline
d)the tarnishing of a copper statue
e)none of the above
Which of the folowing items is a physical property?
b)the odor of spearmint gum
Reply:The odor of the gum. All of the rest of the possible answers are types of chemical reactions.
Reply:B.
With A, there is a chemical reaction that takes place between acid and granite that produces another product - corrosion.
With C, combustion causes a chemical reaction between fuels (carbon, hydrogen, sulfur, coal, oil, gas) and oxygen that results in water, carbon dioxide and heat.
With D, there is a chemical reaction between copper and oxygen that causes the tarnish (green color)

Glowing lifesavers and Masking tape - why does it happen?
When we were kids, we would take Wint-O-Green Lifesavers (at least I think it was Wint-O-Green... may have been Spearmint or Peppermint) and go into a dark room. When we would bite down, with our mouths open, we could clearly see sparks and flashes as the candy broke up. And the same thing with masking tape. We'd take it into the dark room, and pull a strip of tape off of the roll, quickly and firmly, and we'd see a bright glow along the interface where the tape pulled-away from the surface of the roll.
What causes this?
Glowing lifesavers and Masking tape - why does it happen?
Hi zeebya, I happen to know the phenomena you speak about. The light from the Life Savers is called triboluminescence. Basically, the crystalline structure in methyl salicylate (wintergreen oil flavour) flouresces when struck by ultraviolet light; the UV is in turn emitted by sugar crystals under the stress of the crushing force of your jaw.
I saw an article , at least 20 years ago, in Scientific American about triboluminescence. They also disussed the Scotch tape effect. I remember being intrigued by the fact the tape gets much thinner at the point where it's being pulled off -- it's under immense tension.
Reply:Hi. The life-saver uses a dye that glows when subjected to electricity. Biting the life-saver produces a small electric charge. I've never seen the masking tape trick (I'll try it) but I would guess that was static electricity discharging at the edge.

Does it take a long time to wait in line to get into strip clubs if going at 9 or 10pm?
Here is the ongoing questions about strip clubs in vegas...
If we cab over to OG or Spearmint, will we be waiting in line long outside the club? I'm new to the club scene (whether its dance clubs or gentleman's clubs...)
What should I expect? My wife may not want to stand outside forever if this is the case... :)

Spearmint Rhino is the busiest Strip Club due to it's popularity. I'm pretty sure you won't be waiting in any lines to get it, but finding a seat in another issue especially if you are going on the weekend.
OG is not as busy, so you shouldn't have a problem there, but I haven't been there in a while so I could be wrong.
Reply:My friend just came back from Vegas waiting in line for Pure (dance club one of the top 5) ..he told me he lined up 15 minutes before the club opened, and it still took him 2 hours to get in. His group was 2 girls and 2 guys...I was surprised to hear that. Then again he didn't tip the bouncer...but i'm sure even doing so it would've still beeen quite a wait. My suggestion if you can afford it, or split it amongst your group get a table.
As for strip clubs. I've never had to wait in line ever to get in to a strip club. but it does get packed, especially spearmint. So as the other person said, finding a GOOD place to sit might be annoying, and well more customers means..getting a lap dance from that special girl who caught your eye..may mean you might actually have to get up and talk to her because she may never get around to you.
Wait..you're going with your wife. well...screw the lap dance thing cus I doubt she's gonna approve of that. But regardless getting a good table will be harder, but it sounds like you're showing up pretty early..I wouldn't worry about it.

Reply:Not really. At that time you should be OK. Also, keep in mind the day of the week you're going and that some clubs are more popular than others and can crowd up quickly too.
Reply:You always could go to Larry's Villa! :)
sorry.. local's joke.
Seriously though if it's a nice club, expect to pay $$$ to get a table.
Reply:If you going that early you should be fine. I've been Spearmint Rhino its really good. Lots of girls
