Wrigley's Spearmint gum?

Has Wrigley's Spearmint gum always been a lime-green color? Not the package, but the actual piece of gum. My dad and I are having an argument. Thanks!

Wrigley's Spearmint gum?
it was white at one stage!

hope you won lol!!

Reply:The mint plant is a pretty green plant and I used to grow it in hanging baskets. I think it is logical that it would have always been a mint color of the natural green.
Reply:No. When I was a kid, it was grayish with a light white sprinkling of powdered sugar. All the Wrigley's gums were that color in those days. It was never white per se, but the color is really pretty hard to describe.
Reply:it actually depends on what flavor youre talking about.

blue= peppermint/winterfresh

green= spearmint

white= polar ice

Spearmint Rhino in Vegas?????

In a week I am going to Vegas (from LA) to work first time at Spearmint Rhino as an exotic dancer. I wanted to ask how many girls work there every night and how many men go to the club? Is it true that $5 goes to house per every dance?

Is September a busy month at the club?

Thank you!

Spearmint Rhino in Vegas?????
my bf went there on time....he said it was big time overrated and he liked sapphaires way better! he went for a bachlor party thats why i let him go there!
Reply:My friend was a cocktail waitress there and if there is a split with the house she never mentioned it. But you will get lots of tips. She loves the place. She works the late shift till sunrise and cleans up each work day.

Good luck to you.
Reply:Lots of girls but also lots of patrons, especially on the weekends, if you're hot, even with the house fees you'll make tons of green
Reply:Spearmint Rhino is a great club. I've been there a couple of time as a customer for bachelor parties. based on what I can see, there are a lot of girls working, but also a ton of guys inside. It is often standing room only. I think $5 for each dance does go to the house, but based on the kinds of cars lined up outside, I don't think there is any shortage of money in the room.
Reply:im not sure but i know thats a good club a lot of "clean" guys go there my buddys uncle owns is

Does anyone have a picture of the Rialto Bridge in Venice Italy?

In My graphics class i need to recreate a magazine ad and i chose the eclipse fusion spearmint melon ad. you know the one where they are by the bridge and sitting on a melon. If anyone has a link to a picture at that exact angle it would be GREATLY appreciated. also it would be good if it had no people in it and looked like the one from the ad.

Do all seeds benefit from pre-soaking prior to planting?

I am trying to grow a little herb garden of basil, parsley and spearmint. I often have problems getting my seeds to germinate (I don't have a green thumb, at least not yet). When I read the instructions for the parsley, it recommended that I pre-soak the seeds for best results, so I'm doing that. I was wondering if I should also do this for the basil and spearmint as well, even though it doesn't say anything about it in their instructions. Is pre-soaking good for all seeds, or only certain kinds?

Do all seeds benefit from pre-soaking prior to planting?
Sure you can try it! Nothing wrong with experimenting!

Just do it with a few seeds so that you don't ruin the whole lot. This is a great way to check if your seeds are viable -by pre-soaking. If your seeds germinate, then you know your seeds are ok.

Here's something I did do with tomato seeds and worked great:

First -I misted w/ sprayer a 2" long strip of papertowel till it was wet -but not soaking.

Second - placed seeds in middle of strip, spaced in a single line like you would do if you were planting in the ground.

Third, carefully folded the strip and placed in a ziplock, put it a warm place (not more than 70 degrees) for 24 hours.

After 24 hours, Check the seeds and remove any seeds that didn't germinate. Put the pre-soaked strips of seeds, paper and all, in prepared soil. (Put two germinated seeds w/ paper per hole.)

Good luck!

Here's a site to give you all sorts of info on starting seeds indoors: http://www.humeseeds.com/indoor.htm

(UPDATE- Don't use Miracle-Gro on seeds!

It will burn them! If you can get rainwater, that is best on seeds and plants - as city water has chemicals like chlorine that can kill plants. If you must use fertilizer use fish emulsion -and only then wait until you have true 2nd or 3rd leaves and plant is well established in the ground!)
Reply:Actually it is a good idea to presoak in Miracle Gro
Reply:it helps a lot
Reply:No. All seeds require different things to germinate. Follow the instructions on the package. Be sure that you keep the growing medium moist (I like a mister) but not soggy.

Of the different kinds of mints useful in cooking, which ones do you like?
THIN MINTS ARE THE BEST MINTS!! lol.=D
Reply:peppermint, spearmint
Reply:the mint leaf/free growing,can work wonders.
Reply:There are tons of different kinds of mint and most of them are good for cooking or in a tea or other beverage. I prefer spearmint and pepermint for cooking, just because I like their flavor. For cold tea, I take spearmint or lemonmint. For hot chocolate, I put in chocolate mint. For a hot tea, peppermint is good for the tummy and is also soothing. For mint jelly, it's gotta be peppermint, also peppermint is good in candy making. Catnip, is also a member of the mint family and is great in hot tea. It won't make humans crazy like it does cats, in fact, it can help you relax and get a good night sleep.
Reply:ireally like cinnamon ,there is orange, black liquorish.
Reply:Moroccan Mint, (a type of spearmint), for general use, but lemon mint is good with fish or in salads and Indian mint, (that's 'native American' Satureja douglasii), makes a great tea.
Reply:I like spearmint as well it is a good all rounder. It is good in Pimms and it's good for mint sauce and putting in new potatoes for boiling.
Reply:hi, i grow 'normal' culinary mint and black peppermint. both are good, but the black is better for dessert use. just personal taste tho'.
Reply:We grow orange mint that is really good but I prefer spear mint to make tea out of it. The pepper mint is also good for drinks.
Reply:I like pineapple mint for drinks as well. For cooling down spicy Thai salads and making mojitos, I use peppermint. It's the only mint whose leaves I vacuum freeze for continued use year long.
Reply:Chocolate mint. I like the smell and love the taste. I found my first plant in Colorado.

Anyone know how to make those fannie may meltaways? like what is the mint coating?

is it spearmint or wintergreen or something?

Anyone know how to make those fannie may meltaways? like what is the mint coating?
I happen to have the recipe in my Fannie Farmer Cookbook. All the meltaways are is fondant flavored with oil of peppermint. Once they dry, you dip them in melted chocolate.

Recipe for Mint Creams:

Melt one cup of basic fondant in a double boiler over hot water. Stir in 1-2 drops oil of peppermint. Color pale green if desired. Drop by tip of spoon onto wax paper and allow to dry. To coat them after they are dry, melt chocolate confectioner's coating over warm water in a double boiler. Dip the fondant into it and place on wax paper. Allow to dry. To make the green coating, use white chocolate confectioner's coating and add green food color/gel to the coating. Stir until smooth, then dip the fondant into the coating. Allow to dry on wax paper.

If you decide to make your own fondant, you can add the oil of peppermint to the fondant before you let it harden.

http://www.homemade-dessert-recipes.com/...

The site above teaches you about fondant and how to make it. It is simple for candy makers, but a bit of a challenge since you have to cook the mixture of sugar, water and cream of tartar to a soft ball stage or a certain temperature on a candy thermometer to make it turn out well. You'll need to understand this terminology in order to cook the fondant which is the heart of the meltaways.

I've made these myself for family and friends.

Good luck!
Reply:I think it's just a candy coating flavored with peppermint. You can buy the supplies you need at

Here's the candy melts that would make that coating:

Is Spearmint Rhino's the best stripclub in Las Vegas?

Or are Deja Vu Las Vegas, Sapphire, Cheetah's and Scores better?

Is there any club better than Rhino's and if so, which one?

Is Spearmint Rhino's the best stripclub in Las Vegas?
Here is a rundown on what I think of strip clubs in Vegas.

Spearmint Rhino: Nice strip club, however I think their location isn't one of there best. Its overcrowded, hard to get seating and the attention from the girls. The service is not that great. (I believe in good service when spending money.)

Treasures: A beautiful club; great steakhouse, but not that user friendly.

Sapphires: Incredible club. They claim to be the largest in the world and they treat you well.

Scores: My favorite club in Vegas. Lots of girls, great food, and great staff.

Seamless: Beautiful ultra lounge style strip club.

Sin: The club is beautiful but empty; it needs better girls. Scores is buying this club out, which will make it a great club with a steakhouse and nite club for after hours.

Olympic gardens: Old. This club has been around for a long time not is no longer competitive.
Reply:No, Spearmint Rhino is easily the best strip club in Vegas. That is where the best of the best girls work and where the richest of the rich go to blow their money.
Reply:Don't forget Larry's Villa
Reply:there all the same thing. they might have 3 cute girls and the other 20 are butt ugly because anyone can be a stripper now. if you want a NICE place you should go to seamless. not as many girls but the ones they have are hot. go on a friday or saturday night and ask if the cocktail waitress "angelina" is working and if she is, tell her steve the realtor sent you.

Have you ever eaten something that tastes the way something else smells?

I don't want to confuse anyone so here's my example. I'm chewing Extra spearmint gum and I took a sip of coke and it tasted like babypowder.. lol..

Has anyone had a similar experience? What was it?

Have you ever eaten something that tastes the way something else smells?
Ok not quite what you are looking for but funny. My ex boyfriend came over and made himself a bagel and what he thought was strawberry cream cheese. He took one bite and spit it out and told me my strawberry cream cheese had gone bad. I laughed and let him know that the salmon cream cheese was just fine.
Reply:I put chapstick on that has peppermint oil in it. Then I ate a piece of chocolate. But the chapstick combined with the chocolate tasted like a peppermint patty.
Reply:I ate gummy candy once and said it tasted like shampoo. My friend looked at me like I had just run over her dog!

Help with my herbs in the desert?

I am growing herbs in a strawberry pot and another Terra cotta pot.I have apple-mint spearmint, basil garlic chives and lemon thyme growing in that pot and two kinds of oregano growing in another. How can I keep these alive in the desert and that I only have a patio to grow things on.The mint and oregano look like they are burnt and the oregano started to brown and die help me how can i keep things alive and well for I can cook with them?

Help with my herbs in the desert?
To prevent from extra heat from the sun, transfer your pots of herbs in house. Avoid overheat your strawberriey plant, the leaves may scorch.

Here are some tropic plants that you need to consider.

http://mytropic-garden.blogspot.com

Spearmint, winterfresh, peppermint. . .?

when you eat one or all of the above, why when you breath in, does your breath seem cold?

Spearmint, winterfresh, peppermint. . .?
because they contain molecules of mint in them. All have that in common.

Spearmint (Mentha spicata, syn M. viridis) is a species of mint native to central and southern Europe, where it grows in wet soils.

Hybrids involving spearmint include peppermint (Mentha × piperita, hybrid with watermint M. aquatica), gingermint (Mentha × gracilis, syn M. cardiaca, hybrid with cornmint Mentha arvensis), and large apple mint (Mentha × villosa, hybrid with apple mint Mentha suaveolens).

Winterfresh is a minty flavor of chewing gum made by Wrigley's.

Is there an expiration date on chewing gum?

I ate some yesterday that was over a year old. It looked fine and tasted fine but later on in the day I started throwing up extremely bad and when I woke up this morning I started throwing up again. The only other things that I consumed yesterday is a sodapop and a soup, the same things that I eat and drink almost everyday, so it has to be the gum. I don't know if it matters, but it was Spearmint.

Is there an expiration date on chewing gum?
I've never heard of getting sick from chewing gum. At least not like that. Once I chewed around 50 pieces of chewing gum on Halloween and ended up throwing up from it but just once.

Most of the time food poising lasts around 24 hours. If your still sick after that then most likely it was not the gum, or the soup, or the soda. You are probably just actually sick, push fluids and get some rest.
Reply:um i think that it was the combination of food you ate you ate soda ,soup and spearmint gum that sounds disgusting to me and gum always taste fine everlasting taste!!!!i think your body probably was dehydrated you only ate soup and a soda and then gum
Reply:THAT sounded like you had a touch of the flu. I have never gotten sick on gum.THINK of what else you ate, IT may have been a little old.
Reply:can't be.. I chew gum like almost everyday and I never threw up. Unless if you have a problem with eating things... then i think that the problem.
Reply:probably cuz if it was spearmint the crystals go bad.

get well soon.

Where do mint leaves come from?

are there specific types of leaves like actual 'spearmint' or 'pepermint'? or are they all derivitave of the same plant? I needed to buy some spearmint leaves for a recipe but all I can find are fresh 'Mint' leaves. what gives?

Where do mint leaves come from?
There are probably 25 variaties of the mentha genus--From mint to oregano, etc., etc., mint leaves are mint leaves--use what you can find
Reply:Mint leaves are usually labeled spearmint leaves and if you go to a plant nursery there are a few variety's of mint just like there are different kinds of tomatoes, oranges, or grapes. They even have chocolate spearmint. It's very easy to grow and I reccomend putting it in a container bc it spreads in the garden like a vine and can overtake the whole garden. I grow some every year so I can make homeade mint jelly... it's so yummy! :)
Reply:They all come from different mint plants. You could probably find a small plant at a local garden center.
Reply:yeah they come from a mint bush

How do I winterize my herbs?

I heard somewhere that I should take my herbs %26amp; transplant them into pots %26amp; bring them inside. I have Chives Peppermint Spearmint Orengano %26amp; Rosemary. Can you tell me which ones can stay outside %26amp; come back next year %26amp; which ones have to come in this year? I'd really appreciate it thanks!

How do I winterize my herbs?
All of your herbs are winter hardy. In fact, I am overrun with oregano that winters just fine. Many of your herbs are members of the mint family and are known for their hardiness. In fact, if mints are not contained they can take over your entire garden. My chives just keep on growing, not problem with winter. You don't have to take any of your herbs indoors but you can if you want to. Leave your herbs in the garden and take cuttings indoors to have inside herbs. As for your outside herbs, just cut back and mulch heavy...they will do fine. I have all the same herbs and I really don't even have to mulch...they are winter hardy, Rosemary might be the only herb that won't make it because it is an annual. However, I leave mine alone and it reseeds itself and spreads. I have already taken cuttings, dried the herbs and have all I need for winter. I also grow basil which is an annual and will be dead at the first frost. I am taking the basil up now and making basil oil for cooking and drying basil for sauces.
Reply:chives peppermint and spearmint should over-winter

oragano and rosemary need brought inside

unit
Reply:Here in Florida they will all do just fine outside.
Reply:Depending on your winters they should all be fine in the ground outside. I live in the mountains and all of these survive the winter. Basil is the only herb I have to start from seed each spring. If you bring them in they will need a sunny window or grow light.

Produce section of larger grocery stores, ones that sell fresh herbs. Try a Farmers Market also.

Places to buy fresh spearmint ..where at ?
The produce section of your supermarket should carry it, or better yet, grow your own...it grows like a weed and you can't get any fresher than that!

Reply:There's a place called "Sugar Mountain." One is on Yonge St. on the NE side of Eglinton, right by the subway. It's a retro candy store with all those things you ate if you were a kid in the 70's. As part of their rare candy concept they have a number of British chocolate bars and other candies as well.

On the other hand, I grew up with lilac bushes all around the house and when may came, our house smelt so nice no matter which way the wind was blowing. Both plants are very strong and durable and ring in the summer with a bang. Have you considered planting all the ideas you had? You get the best of all worlds and hey , you can,t beat these plants for the beauty and aromas they all give off. The good thing about the evergreens is that when the others have gone into their winter mode, the evergreen is still there to block the wind and give winter bird food and a place to nest. Good choices.

Does chewing spearmint gum help memory?

I know one way it can. People can associate memories to smells. So if you want to remember something, like say information for a test, you could chew spearmint gum while studying, and then again while you are taking the test to help you remember. Have you ever experienced smell-memory before? I do a lot, usually with shampoo....it makes me remember certain times I had when I last used the particular shampoo.

Does chewing spearmint gum help memory?
Its not only chewing gum. While you study eat sunflower seeds, a candy bar or lolly pop while you study and do the same thing while you take your test.
Reply:The theory behind that is this: Study hard on something while chewing gum. Once you need to recall that infomation, put a stick of gum in you mouth. The taste will bring you back to the mindset you had when studying, hence better memory. This works with anything, not just gum.

How do you get CHEWING GUM out of clothing?

My husband left a full pack of spearmint chewing gum in his uniform pocket and i washed them with all of my other clothes and so now my clothes smell like chewing gum but also there is gum spread out all over my clothes how do i get it off??? its really sticky and kinda spread out not just in big clumps.???

How do you get CHEWING GUM out of clothing?
It sounds like alot of gum though for the usual ice cube trick. Try getting the clothes thoroughly wet, then put them in a bag and freeze that way. Next day open it up and crack it all open and see if you can chip it off that way. Follow up with a machine wash in warm or hot, if you can (not bleeding colors) :) Good luck!

* The clothes that smell of chewing gum can be washed in warm water with a bit of baking soda and your detergent, wash as usual.
Reply:try freezing thespots with an icecube then break the gum off your chothes
Reply:believe me peanut butter won't help, try using like a flat but thin object to scoop it out like a spoon or a stapler remover
Reply:there are a few things u can do

you can

(A) put ice on it or put it in the freezer it hardens the gum and or silly string/ silly putty and makes it easier 2 peel off

(B) put peanut butter on it

or (c) go 2 walmart and buy a can of OOPS
Reply:try wd40 - this just fish oil. spray the areas let it set a few minutes, then pull the gum off with paper towels. Then relaunder your clothes.

It is for more than a squeeky door.
Reply:Yes the other´s are right freeze it off. BUT, 100% after you remove the chewing gum, their is always a stain. So the way to remove this stain is like this, please try it works. whip up 1 egg white, lay over the stain the chewing gum has left, leave for 10 min´s , then pop into your machine on a normal wash. This should rid the stain
Reply:Rub the gum with an ice cube until it freezes, and then scrape it off with something blunt, like a butterknife. Peanut butter rubbed on it should also help, but may be messier in the long run.

I know this may take a while, depending on how many articles of clothing were affected, but it beats having to throw everything away.

Spearmint or Peppermint?

Which mint is being referred to in Mediteranean and Middle Eastern recipes?
http://www.theherbaltouch.com/iha/mint98...

Spearmint and crinkle-leafed spearmint are best for sauces. You can cook a few sprigs with peas and new potatoes to enhance the flavor.

Spearmint, peppermint and applemint sprigs can be added to drinks and fruit dishes as a garnish. It also makes a refreshing tea.

Peppermint makes an excellent flavoring for ice cream, chocolates, and other deserts.

Bugs are eating my mint. How to get rid of them without chemicals?

I have a 3-gallon pot with peppermint, spearmint, rosemary, oregano and marjoram on the patio of my apartment. Some sort of bug is eating and/or sucking the juices from the mint leaves but not touching the other plants. I have a suspicion that it's leaf-hopper type insects and inchworms falling from a nearby tree. I want to protect my plants, but I don't know what to do. HELP!!!

Bugs are eating my mint. How to get rid of them without chemicals?
Simple green, which is a soap, works great for many kinds of bugs, and won't harm the plant.
Reply:Lady Bugs eat aphids and other small pests. You can also spray your plants with a very diluted mixture of dish washing liquid and water. Don't get all out of shape about dish washing liquid be a chemical...water is a chemical by definition.
Reply:Sprinkle some salt.

Add some lemon balm or lemon thyme (both herbs). The bugs don't like lemon scented plants.

Besides electrolysis and plucking, are there any effective methods for combating witch hairs?

I am in my late twenties and have been developing "witch hairs" on my chin and chest. This is very bothersome to me. I know that it may be from elevated testosterone and I am planning to have some bloodwork done. But I am hoping you know of some natural remedies. Have you heard that spearmint tea may be good for this?

Thanks for your advice!

Besides electrolysis and plucking, are there any effective methods for combating witch hairs?
If it is not too thick why not just bleach it and let it be. Bleaching, it cost very little, you can buy it in any CVS or any other places like this. What is basically does is dye your hair so light it is not noticeable. Plus, it involves no type of pain and you can put it in your face with no fear of any irritation. Good Luck
Reply:i go every two weeks for waxing of eyebrows, chin and upper lip. just blonde hair but the ones on my chin are the most creepy and embarrassing thing. i can't let anyone cup my chin in their hand but i notice i can always tell when it must be time for waxing because people will always draw their eyes down to my chin during conversation and it is so god awful horribly embarrassing. i wonder what they are thinking to themselves when they are looking at my less feminine facial hairs freaking out all over. i am an attractive woman but have had this problem since like i was 22 or so. i thought it was hereditary on my mom's side as her mom and my mom both suffer as well from hairy faces. light hairs, not dark, but you see and feel the stubbly boogers and it is not lady like feeling to feel like a man. i do waxing and it is fine. you get use to the sensation of having it stripped away from your face. try it.

Reply:Mint plant seed are sold in most home supply stores that handle live plants. Mints are easily to germinated and grown.
Reply:The nursery I work at carries about 15 kinds of mint plants. We'll be getting them in soon. You didn't say where you live, but if your "last frost" date is within the next 6 weeks, you should be able to find mint plants at any area garden store or nursery. They should be getting all kinds of new spring perennials soon.

You can also buy seeds of some mint plants (some of the fancier mint varieties need to be started from cuttings). But it will be a more than a season before you have enough mint to do anything with. It's much easier and faster to begin with small plants. Easy too. Mint is a vigorous grower.
Reply:don't plant mint in an open bed. it spreads like crazy and is very difficult to contain. either plant in pots or a very safe controllable position.

fresh mint in a salad or on potatoes is brilliant

How to make tea with my own plants?

I have a spearmint and a peppermint plant that I would like to use for making my own herbal tea. I know that I first dry the leaves. How do I then brew these dried leaves into tea? I don't have a mesh tea bag like the store bought tea, so what do I use? I thought about putting the leaves into a coffee filter and brewing it in a coffee maker? But then it wouldn't be steeping for 5 minutes either.

How to make tea with my own plants?
get an infuser

Crush the dried leaves and place them in a little infuser

looks like a mini strainer -thimble with a lid thingy, bed bath beyond, linen and things have em, or if ya really want fancy and your irish :) click on below link

Reply:Use 1 tsp dried spearmint or peppermint to 1 cup of hot water, let steep 10 mins and strain through the coffee filter. Keep in mind that these teas are tarty and have a wang to them when you are drinking a pure mint tea. If you have lemon balm or raspberry tea leaf and then add mint to the mix and steep for 10 mins. this would be an excellent and refreshing drink. Spearmint is good for soothing an upset stomach and so is peppermint.
Reply:Click the link below to see the tea bags for loose tea leaves.

Instructions should come with the bags.

There is also a metal loose tea holder you can buy to reuse. They sell these at any kitchen supply store for around 15-20 bucks.

What is the process of making your own herbal cigarettes?

I have a recipe for making my own herbal cigarettes out of combining any choice of the following: marshmallow leaves, red clover flowers, rose petals, yerba santa, damiana, passion flower, jasmine, ginseng, bayberry, osha root, mullein, red willow, red sumac, lovage bark, spearmint, peppermint, wild lettuce, catnip, skullcap, fly agaric or pantherina mushrooms, blue lotus, pink lotus, motherwart, salvia divinorum, wormwood, maltodextrin. After choosing which herbs to use you are suppose to soak them in extracts of one or more of the following: kava kava, valarian, lettuce opium, skullcap, passion flower, maltodextrin, vanilla, honey, fruit juices. Then you are suppose to use leaves of lotus, cornsilk, or licorice root ( or a combo of these) for rolling them/filtering?? Anyways, they were not very specific on how to actually do all of this and I wondered if anyone knew which of these herbs go good together, how long I should soak them and dry them for, etc... Thanks!

How do you extract the oil from a mint plant?

Is there a stove top method? I have various mint plants, peppermint, spearmint, lemon mint, pineapple mint and chocolate mint? Also, What else can you do with mint besides make tea?

How do you extract the oil from a mint plant?
If unable to do the distilliation, try making a poultice or Tinture.

The tinture will extract the oils out @ the cost of alcohol. So if one is willing to use that route, hey go for it.
Reply:Oil of mint is extracted by steam distillation of mint leaves/stems that have been partially dried and cured (like hay). Not sure if it's possible to do this in the home although you could try setting up a stove top kettle with a long tube attached to the spout and collecting the distillate of boiling mint plant. Then you just need to separate the oil from the distilled water. I think you would need a LOT of plant material to make it worth while.

mint is great as a tea of course, but you can do other things with it. use it to flavour desserts (especially chocolate based ones) or mix finely chopped mint leaves with some vinegar and sugar to make a mint sauce for lamb. i use mint whenever i cook new potatoes: after boiling and draining them, add a knob of butter and some chopped mint leaves and coat the potatoes. tastes great!

I need cake baking tips and advise?

I am baking a golf course cake for my brothers birthday and my directions say say to make trees out of spearmint candy leaves. it says to use a pretzel for the trunk but I don't have and and have no time nor anyone to take me to town to get some. Does anyone have any ideas as for what else I could use??? preferably edible.

I need cake baking tips and advise?
If you don't have any of the items already suggested, just make a chocolate cookie recipe and roll the dough into logs that could be trunks. You would just need a sugar cookie dough and you can either put brown food coloring or chocolate powder in it to make it brown.

For the leaves, I'm not sure what you could use. My only suggestion would be the leaves of flowers washed (if you have edible flowers, which most people don't!)

If you have green food coloring then all you have to do is add it to a frosting and pipe out some leaves....
Reply:If you can't find anything like that use candy corn. It has a natural tree shape. Besides that toothpicks might work.
Reply:How about ice cream cones with dyed green icing?
Reply:what about tootsie rolls? maybe you can slice them in half or something. if you powdered sugar and green food coloring, you can make the leaves yourself.

What kind of vegetables do you plant in your vegetable garden?

I have, corn, broccoli, okra, yellow summer squash, cantaloupe, jubilee watermelon, jalapeno peppers, cilantro, roma tomatoes, wild garlic, spearmint, green onions, green beans, bell peppers, and pickling cucumbers. Corn is 6' tall, squash is prolific, its all doing great!

What kind of vegetables do you plant in your vegetable garden?
Plant what you like to eat, and what you have space for and time to take care of. I have 7 types of heirloom tomatoes (love eating fresh and for salsa), 5 types of peppers ( for salsa), cucumbers, snow peas, green beans, okra (yummy fried), green onions, beets (I love borst, and the greens are incredible), swiss chard, spinach, lettuce (if you grow only one thing, grow lettuce-it is so much tastier than store bought, and no worries about E coli), carrots, radishes, chives, parsley, cilantro, mint, chamomile, dill, thyme, milk thistle, horehound (dabbling into medicinal herbs). Also, I will plant the following fall crops: collard greens (will overwinter if you have a mild winter and you mulch), daikon radishes, kale, turnips, parsnips. I do not grow corn or squashes due to space requirements.
Reply:okra peas squash corn
Reply:it depends on how much space is available and how much work that needs to be put into it to maintain it
Reply:lettuce, peppers, squash, cucumbers, onions, carrots, tomatoes, green beans, corn...
Reply:This year we have planted 70 tomato plants, down from 140 from last year, never say yes to a greenhouse owner at the end of the season until you find out what the question is!! 8 different peppers, 2 types of zucchini, 4 different squash, 2 types of watermelon, 130 hills- 3 different types- potatoes, several different types of lettuce, 3 types of carrots, sweet corn and ornamental corn, big and little pumpkins, 2 types of eggplant, sweet peas, green/yellow and wax beans, kohlrabi. This is spread out in 2 different gardens, one in town and one in the headlands of about 1000 acres of crop land. Between the 2 of them we figure there is close to an acre and a half of garden space and we are thinking about expanding for some unknown reason!!!!!!!!

How do you make flavored vodka?

I would like to make one flavored with cinnamon Red-Hots that turns it red and one that is spearmint and green.

How do you make flavored vodka?
It sounds as though you are actually making mouthwash... But! Tasty mouthwash!

First, use GOOD vodka. It doesn't have to be Stoli or Grey Goose, but Smirnoff, Skyy, and, if you are lucky enough to live in Texas, Tito's are excellent choices.

Next: Experiment. Try making a pint or half-pint Mason jar. There is nothing worse that pulling out a half-gallon of your Prune/Lemon/Watermelon liqueur only to find that it is so foul-tasting that you could kill roaches with it... but it would violate the Geneva Convention.

Last: Get good, strong flavorings. Red hots may be delish and spicy by the handful in your mouth, but you would probably be better off with a good cinnamon extract and some quality food coloring. Likewise the spearmint. There are some fantastically good mint oils that will really brighten your day! Look for them online.

Best wishes!
Reply:Put red hots in the vodka for 7 days. Shake each day. Same with anything to flavor vodka.
Reply:We always just put some Jolly-ranchers or some other sugary candy in the bottle before we wanted to drink it. Give it some time to dissolve and you got your flavored Vodka! So you could probably do the same with Red-hots, and maybe try green Tic-Tacs or something. You can always add food coloring for more effect if the color is important.
Reply:Or you could just have "Hot Damn" and "Creme de Menthe".
Reply:i like the plan flavor im a batender and i can make a drink tast like any thing
Reply:Vodka eh? Someone will be having a fun time. Try out using Crystal Light. It is heathy and tastes great. Try out a free sample first at http://urlx.org/89ab5 to see how it works.
Reply:They sell both of those as schnapps. Look in the cordials or schnapps section of your liquor store. Then simply buy vodka and make the drink. Just like a apple martini but instead of apples liquor, use Red Hot Cinnamon.

What kinds of herbal sprays can I put on veggies to remove pests?

Im starting a vegetable garden in huge pots.Im a bit weary about putting harmful pesticides on my veggies and wondered if there was a way I could use something safe to spray on my veggies--like warm vinegar. Something safe. FYI: I am growing Broccoli, Cucumbers,Romaine lettuce,Spinach and Spearmint. I just planted the seeds yesterday. OH!! And what is Sod? How is this different from top soil? Is it a fertilizer?

Im not sure if I planted this stuff the right way, but I just got top soil, put the seeds in the dirt, watered it and gave it moderate sunlight. I brought my veggies in cause I figured it is too cool to leave out at night.

Thanks!

What kinds of herbal sprays can I put on veggies to remove pests?
Try Ladybugs. They may be cute but they have a big appetite for veggie predators and will eat them all and hang around for when the relatives of those pests come along too. Save the chemicals for the ocean extinctions and contaminated water wells.
Reply:You'll want to find out what the pest is before you spray it. Different things work on different bugs. Not all bugs are bad. Sometimes you might see a green caterpillar munching away on the dill, but if you leave him alone, you'll have a nice butterfly and they really don't take very much dill. Bees are goos. Lacewings are good. Flowerflies are good. Wasps are good.

Use marigolds and other bug-repellant plants like lemon grass to help keep pests away.

Compost tea is a good spray. So is fish emulsion. They work by keeping the plants healthy in the first place. Sometimes you can use Neem as a last resport but follow the directions carefully.

Sod is grass that's already growing. You just put it on the ground where you want lawn.

.
Reply:I use a tobacco tea in the last 10 years it cost me $10
Reply:Ive only ever had problems with aphids and whiteflys but you can spray a mix of white vinegar, garlic oil and dish soap. This will kind of melt the bugs, so you can actually watch it work.

Your best bet with your veggies is to stare them in your house on a window sill. You can get small peat pots at any Home Depot, then just trans plant them into a good potting soil. Miracle grow has a great soil with moisture pellets and fert already in it.
Reply:you don't need to spray anything on them. my uncle and aunt grow veggies in their backyard and they don't put anything on them

i believe sod is ready made grass that you buy so you just roll it out and just water it.
Reply:Broccoli get cabbage moths, they are a bright green Caterpillar,I would pick them off and feed them to my gold fish,he loved them and grew over a foot long.

Dill flower tops, break the top off and put it on your other plants,a lot of bugs don't like the smell of the dill an it is all natural.

I decided that I needed to add the answer that I had given on the first question so here it is copied.

Mint is botanically called Mentha it is the Lamiaceae family. There are many varieties of mint. The most common are

M. gentilis (Golden apple Mint)

M. piperita (Peppermint)

M. pulegium (Pennyroyal)

M. requienii (Corsician Mint, Jewel Mint of Corsica)

M. spicata (Spearmint)

M. suaveolens (Apple Mint)

also in the Lamiaceae family are the Nepetas such as

N. cataria (Catnip)

N. faassenii (Catmint)

N. sibirica (Blue Beauty)

Lamiaceae are all members of the mint family of herbaceous plants and shrubs. Many of this group are aromatic and the famliy contains most of the familiar kitchen herbs, such as basil, mint, oregano and sage.

I think there are too many to mention here but look up Lamiaceae, Mentha, and Nepeta plants and you will get an idea as to how many there are. I have listed for you the most common ones.

Also remember that all of these plants are invasive and should be kept contained unless you want an entire bed of mint. I have catnip, spearmint and peppermint growing in the edge of my yard where I can keep it mowed and pulled so that it does not invade my flower beds. It is wonderful to smell them as we sit near them and after a rain there are very pungent.

I hope this helps you.

What can i ues Spearmint leaves for that i have?

You can brew tea and put a leaf in it (either hot or cold). You can make mint ice cream. You can mix some crushed dried (or fresh diced) mint leaves with yoghurt and put as a sauce over meat. You can press the leaves (if you have bundles of them) and extract spearmint oil to use in candies. You can make a mint cake or a vanilla mint cream pie.

How do I keep my mint from taking over my vegetable/herb garden?

I planted some spearmint and chocolate mint starters last year. I later found out they take over whatever space is available. I want to control them while planting other vegetables or herbs around them?

How do I keep my mint from taking over my vegetable/herb garden?
You will have to take most of it out and only keep it in the area you want it to grow in. After you have removed most of it, dig a large hole and put a five gallon plastic bucket all the way down in the hole, with only the first two inches showing over the top. Punch holes in the very bottom for drainage. You have to leave the lip up a couple of inches though, since they put out roots from their stems.

this will contain the plant roots to a specific area. You can put mulch or bark around the top of the lid, to keep it looking nice.

This technique works very well with Bamboo too. It is actually required by law in some parts of California, to stop the rampant growth of non native species of Bamboo.

Good luck!
Reply:Hey Farmer -

Mint can (and usually is) invasive. I grow it all the time and found some more tame and shorter varieties which do not spread so much by the roots. Because you already have it started, by advice would be simple: replant it (or start it) in a pot (preferably clay or plastic without a bottom) and plant/sink the entire thing to soil level - this keeps the plant and roots from spreading out further past the boundaries of the plant and the mint plant will "appear" to still be in ground.

Good luck and happy minting ...
Reply:plant your mints in an old pail and bury the pail in the garden hence the roots will only go in the pail and not spread into othert plants
Reply:Pull out enough for some pots. Totally pull the excess. Set the pots into the ground. You will have some grow back from where it was, but it should help bring it under control.
Reply:YOU ARE RIGHT, THEY WILL INDEED TAKE OVER. HOWEVER, THEY CAN BE EASILY TRIMMED WITHOUT DAMANGING THE PLANT.
Reply:Try planting your mint in pots , then put the pots into the ground , and plant round them . It works for me%26gt;
Reply:I have mine in a pot of its own in the ground so the roots have a specific amount of space, if they strart over growing i trim them back :-)

Can I fill a clay pot with dirt from outside for growing plants indoors?

Or should I buy soil from the store?

I am planning to grow spearmint from seeds.

Thanks!

Can I fill a clay pot with dirt from outside for growing plants indoors?
sure, you can! Nature doesn't use store bought soil! I would, however, mix some potting soil with dirt from outside. Just make sure you don't bring in bugs in the dirt and the dirt is rich. .

Gardening is so much fun. You know after the last freeze, you can just put the seeds in the ground and see what happens.
Reply:Get new soil from the store. The soil outside usually has some fungus in it and it will spread to your potted plants. And also you won't have any holes in your yard. And it'll provide nutrition.
Reply:Not the best idea but I have done it. Outside soil can have the potential of disease and insects that can quickly infest and destroy your new plants. When I used outdoor soil, I put in in baking dishes and baked at 250 degrees for an hour. Never had any problem. However, most potting soils from the store don't cost much. I avoid Miracle Gro because it seems to be too rich and I have had seedlings keel over and die when planted in Miracle Gro.
Reply:You surely can grow plants indoors in an outside dirt, but indoors plants need a good soil.
Reply:yes but spred it on a cookie sheet and put it in the oven to kill all the bad stuff in it first--ugru
Reply:soon you will have knats regardless of your choice to fix this problem just poke some garlic cloves into the soil . and use the real garlic
Reply:No. it will not work. You need to get a good potting soil for indoor plants.
Reply:I agree with the "cook the soil" types, but I'd also use an outdoor grill, if you have one. Cooked bugs inside can be stinky.

I use a soiless mix, ProMix. I start a lot of seeds for Spring, so it would be hard to dig the garden in mid-Winter.
Reply:well I must say I have never heard of anyone baking dirt lol but I can tell you my Mom and I have been starting our garden from seeds for years and we have used the dirt from the ground for many plants but we have bought dirt and used it my opinion is if the seeds are not to costly just try a few in the dirt from your yard it should be ok if the seeds don't grow then try the store bought btw make sure the seeds are not expired
Reply:i suggest by some potting soil it has more nutrients in it than what you can get outside in your yard...also you wont have bugs contaminates etc...

How do you extract the oil from a mint plant?

Is there a stove top method? I have various mint plants, peppermint, spearmint, lemon mint, pineapple mint and chocolate mint? Also, What else can you do with mint besides make tea?

How do you extract the oil from a mint plant?
Here is something you could try:

1)Make an infused-herb oil.For this you need1/2 pint mason jar with two piece lid,3/4 cup of the mint you want to extract,3/4 cup of oil of your choice(sweet almond, olive, sunflower etc.)2 tablespoons 190-proof alcohol.

Wash the herb, chop coarsley.Allow them to slightly wilt overnight to reduce moisture content. Fill jar with them leaving two inches of head space. Cover the herb with oil using a butter knife to get out any air bubbles along the inside of the jar. The herb needs to be completely covered in oil so add more if needed.Pour 1/2 inch of vodka or other 190-proof alcohol on top. Cover with tight fitting lid and shake for a minute.Remove cover. With 4 layers of cheesecloth and a rubber band cover mouth of jar and set in the sun for 2 weeks (or sunny window sill)Oil should have taken on color of the herb and alcohol should be evaporated.Strain through cheesecloth, pressing the herbs to extract as much oil as possible.Oil must sit overnight. Carefully siphon remaining oil from sludge or water that may have settled.Store in refrigerater in glass bottle. Amber bottles are best.
Reply:It's done with steam distillation.. unless you have a stovetop whiskey still, I think probably there isn't a home method for oil extraction.

you can use mint as a seasoning for a number of dishes.. it is often used in Mediterranean foods.

How often do you need to water outside herb plants?

I've read that they need good drainage, I think they have that, but how often do I water them? Every day, only when they look dry, etc.? The herbs I have are:

Sweet basil

greek oregano

thyme

cilantro

italian parsley

peppermint

spearmint

chives

and they're in pretty good sunlight. And I live in Texas.

One more thing, When a plants leaves turn yellow (I also have spinach and it's leaves keep turning yellow) do you need to trim off the yellow?

Thanks in advance fellow gardeners!

How often do you need to water outside herb plants?
I stick a screwdriver into the ground and if the soil is moist down around the one inch mark, I leave them alone. Yellow spinach leaves could indicate a boron deficiency. You can only correct that when you sow the seeds.
Reply:As with all plants Hon, it depends on your rainfall. It's true that herbs don't like to be waterlogged. If you have no rainfall for a week, a twice-weekly watering would be sufficient.

As for your spinach; most leafy greens do shed some outer leaves and they'll turn yellow to brown. Just pull them off, and into the compost heap with 'em :)

Thanks for the tips!

How do I get old gum off of the bottom and side of my shoe?
if you dont wanna freeze ure shoe or cant freeze it use an ice cube put it on the gum wait for a few minites then wen gum is frozen pic it off
Reply:Scrape like hell
Reply:Spray with some WD-40 then scrape off...
Reply:Peanut butter
Reply:Freeze the gum off of the shoes. Use a large ice cube and hold it on the gum, then peel it off.
Reply:Ice cubes will freeze it, then U pic it off. WD40 aerosol will also make it cold enough. Peanut butter works in hair, but I don't know about shoes......
Reply:freeze your shoe, then just pick it off.
Reply:There's a product called Goof Off that removes all sorts of disasters. It removed gum from my car floor mats. You can buy it almost everywhere.

What is the effect of spearmint extract on succinic dehydrogenase 0f mitochondria of respiratory mus?
Ali H, what a great question, although the answer is probably way too long and quite complicated in order to go into a Yahoo Answer forum. I will tell you this your choice of spearmint is probably the best thing to happen to this formula, if you had chosen doublemint or juicyfruit the formula would have failed miserably and the muscles of the albino mouse would have turned into a gummy mess. Using doublemint of course would have precluded the importance of using twin blond girls in your testing which again would of restricted the albino mouse's ability to perform since he would be competing with the blond girls.

Never the less, you should continue to use spearmint and the Wrigley family is very happy that you do, you might try using a bubble gum mixture with the mice it will give them a pinkish hue.

Anyway, good luck in all you do, enjoy your work and when you are done be sure to share it with all of us here at Yahoo.

Spearmint tea?

would store bought spearmint tea still reduce androgens that cause unwanted hair growth or does it have to be made from spearmint leaves by yourself?

Spearmint tea?
Try Adagio's blend...it's quite refreshing and made from natural spearmint leaves :)

Here is a $5 coupon for you : http://www.adagio.com/free_gift/index.ht...

And just search "spearmint" under "herbals" on the adagio.com site.
Reply:storebought should be fine!
Reply:Store bought is just fresh leaves that have been dried and portioned into bags...

They are the exact same thing, you just need to use the average conversion factor of 2x the amount of fresh to dry.

So if what your doing calls for 2 tablespoons of fresh chopped spearming, use 1 tablespoon of dried.

But if you go by TASTE then you can just keep trying until you get the flavor your looking for.

That's what I do.

How can I get rid of the bugs and larvae I keep finding in my cupboards?

I've tried Bay Leaves, spearmint gum, etc. but still find the bugs and the casings in my cupboards.

How can I get rid of the bugs and larvae I keep finding in my cupboards?
My wife and I had that problem a few years ago. We found them spreading from an old, open bag of flour that was untouched for ages. We cleaned out the pantry closet, threw everything out that wasn't either canned or in an unopened jar, thoroughly cleaned the closet from top to bottom ... we went one step farther and painted it too. After that, we kept all open things like breakfast cereals, sugar, flour, pasta and the like, in Tupperware containers and we've never had the problem since. I should mention that, while we didn't experience any insect problem anywhere else in our home, it had been a particularly rainy Spring and the kitchen pantry is right next to a sliding glass door that opens to our back yard ... an easy path for flying and crawling critters!
Reply:YOU HAVE TO FIND THE NEST WHERE THE BUGS ARE HIBERNATING AND SPRAY AND SPRAY FOR THEM.
Reply:Yes, everything that is open needs to be checked and then disposed of, also buy gallon sized and sandwich sized zip loc baggies,

Only use those to properly contain and store the foods.

anything that hasn't been used in the last 6 months goes to the garbage.
Reply:As a former exterminator for Truly Nolen, I can tell you the answer .

Get some ordinary household borax, and some air-puffing device, like a turkey baster, fill it with the borax and apply it to ALL of the crack and crevices in your kitchen, including window sills, wall spaces in between plumbing under the sinks- any sources of moisture, and even the electrical outlets- be CAREFUL though!!

Bugs MUST run through the material, ingest it when they groom themselves, killing all the protozoa in their gut, rendering them unable to digest their food. Essentially they will all starve to death . This take a few months to totally work, but it is the safest, cheapest solution. Doesn't work on arachnids, unfortunately!!
Reply:call an exterminator. he/she will give you some tablets to put out that the bugs will be atracted to but when the bugs eat it they will die.

GOOD LUCK!! :-)
Reply:You have to take everything out, throw away all open food, wash everything and inside the cupboards and then put it back!
Reply:Maybe that's because of what your using, now if you want to get down to business and be serious. You can either have these larva in your food or get rid of them but, you have to get real.

Clean out your cupboard, everything that's over three months old and dry like cereal that you don't use much, toss out. All open containers. Go to Wal Mart and buy some plastic containers, big enough to contain these items and be air tight.

Everything you don't use, toss out, then take everything out, scrub the cupboards out with hot soapy water with a dash of bleach in it. Wipe all the containers off. Then spray everything down with Lysol spray. Leave everything out for a day or two and check the cupboards the next day. You may have to spray with "Raid" if you have a bad infestation between the cracks etc, that you can't reach.
Reply:Maybe from cereals. Old oatmeal, cheeroats, etc. Clean out cupboards.

What kind of peppermint oil do I use when making mint chocolates?

A girl at work brought me some peppermint essential oil - 100% pure botanical undiluted and it says it can be diluted in a vegetable oil base. I picked up some Spearmint Oil today though from the Bulk Barn that the employee said I could use for sure, just incase.

What kind of peppermint oil do I use when making mint chocolates?
oohh,i'd use spearmint,if i had it(my fav)

You should'nt use the botanical stuff as its more for essential oil type use(burn/massage/potpourri)

The spearmint oil will have been extracted from the leaves(not whole plant)thus having a more palatable taste.(other wont be to nice)But i guess i would try it both ways%26amp;see..

It should really be essence/extract(again from leaf)i use'Queens'brand(peppermint)@supermarket... use for my choc mint truffles)taste good(not like camphur)I WOULD SUGGEST GETTING%26amp;USING(IF THEY'RE CHRISSY TREATS)JUST TO BE FAIL SAFE%26amp;NOT WASTE PRODUCE...don't want to be throwing away chocolate.

Of course spearmint and mint%26amp;peppermint are all from the same herb genus(do not taste alike but similar mint feature in all)So go by your preference in taste(mint=mild,peppermint=hot,spearmint...
Reply:not a problem,every ones a c-nt to me on this space.Thank for being polite.

Have an awsome holiday.AND how did they come out?Where's mine??ha ha. Report It

Reply:Peppermint and spearmint do not taste anything alike. See if you can find peppermint extract somewhere.
Reply:The first poster is definitely right about spearmint and peppermint being two very different flavors, so they are not interchangeable.

You could always use peppermint extract as well (about 1 teaspoon for a 9x13 pan of mints) or about 4 drops of the peppermint oil, whichever you can find.
Reply:It's peppermint extract that your looking for if you are using it in chocolate.

The peppermint essential oil is what you mix with a vegetable oil base to rub on your temples if you have a headache or add to a candle to freshen the air in a room.
Reply:Spearmint and peppermint do not taste the same. You need peppermint for your chocolates. It's like chewing spearmint gum or eating a candy cane-big difference in flavours.

Spearmint tea makes hairy women less hairy?

isn't it cool how they found out that spearmint tea lowers androgens which is the male hormone in some women which makes them hairy. Does anyone know of any other foods that work the same way? I am thinking of doing this for a research project but i can not find much information other than this.

Spearmint tea makes hairy women less hairy?
i've heard soy, like soybeans have the same effect. which is probably why some lotions have soybean extract in them for this purpose.
Reply:Awe...but I like hairy chicks...

Spearmint tea for hirsutism?

My mom told me she heard on the radio that if you drink spearmint tea, it could help reduce female facial hair. Has anyone tried this? I hate tea at all costs but if it works, it works!

Spearmint tea for hirsutism?
I don't know. I have fine little light hairs all over my face and sometimes they grow kinda long! I hate it and it always seems like not that many girls have facial hairs. But that would be really nice if something could reduce it. I guess I'll wait and see but I'm just glad mine aren't dark. This is funny. Well kind of sad. Haha. My aunt has the same problem but she has really coarse black hairs that grow in on her chin. She is really pretty and all but she just has this problem!! She has tried everything to get rid of them. So finally she just decided she would shave every morning!!! So every morning her and her boyfriend shave their chins together!! So I guess, just remember what you have could be worse!!!!! Good luck!
Reply:I read about that study. It's worth a shot. How hard can it be to drink a couple of cups of spearmint tea every day?

What's the PH level of spearmint oil?

Someone stated to me that spearmint is used to relieve heart burn. I was wonder if this is because it's an acid or a base?

What's the PH level of spearmint oil?
You can apply the oil to a pH strip and get a color, but that is not a true indication of it acidity. The pH value is only appropriate of water-based systems. In this instance the oil will not work.

That is not to say that natural oils like this can not have some of the properties of acids, they can. We just can’t use pH as a descriptor.

Spearmint extract has a lot going on. It has astringent qualities in that the oil can acts like an organic solvent and also an irritant to the tissue it contacts. So what you might consider “acidic” is really irritation.

Does Wal-Mart have spearmint leaves candy?

What is the effect of spearmint extract on succinic dehydrogenase 0f mitochondria of respiratory mus?

Interesting question, but I see no relationship between the enzyme and an herbal extract.

SDH is a mitochondrial membrane bound enzyme complex that oxidizes succinate to fumarates.

Spearmint extract could contain just about anything water soluble (or whatever solvent is used for an extraction). An extract is a quick and dirty way to test bioactivity of compounds that may be in a plant on tissue, but in this case the compound would have to undergo active transport through cell membranes to make it to the SDH.

Sorry, its not really an answer, but your question needs help.
